Kanab, UT - Bryce Canyon

We made it to Kanab in good time, got half way and spent the night at a truck stop in Richfield and then got into Kanab by noon on the 3rd.  Kanab isn't a very big town, but has everything we need.  There is a Wendy's just 1/2 block from us, a couple of good grocery stores, a handful of good looking restaurants and an auto parts store.  Just about everything we should need. So we go settled in and then made out first excursion on the 4th to Bryce Canyon.

Bryce Canyon:

Bryce Canyon is about 77 miles from Kanab, but well worth the drive. If you have never been to Bryce Canyon, it is worth making it a destination spot.  There is a resort area at the base before you enter into the National Park with some nice hotels and restaurants, and rental and tour companies, but you can always just drive in yourself and hike the trails.  The cost to enter the park is $25 per car.  Also, throughout the park they have wonderful paved bike trails, I wish I had time to ride them all, it looks like great fun meandering through the forrest.

Several nice hotels in the area to choose from.
Look carefully, there is a very nice bicycle path, and it goes for miles

Canyon Trails:

You could probably spends 3-4 days here and not do all the trails.  Be sure to bring a good camera, you will be amazed by the sights.  We took a fairly short trail at 1.3 miles round trip.  It is called the Navajo Loop Trail.  It goes down 550 feet to the canyon floor and guess what, you had to back up the other side!  (of course you do!).  But it was worth every step.  Our advice is if you take this trail, go counter clockwise.  We took so many great pictures, it is hard to decide which ones to post, but I will spare you our 200+ photos and narrow to some of the best.  The road through the park is about 18 miles with many viewing points along the way worth stopping at.

At the Visitors Center there is a theatre where they show a 20 minute movie of the history of Bryce Canyon and they run it ever 30 minutes.  Well worth taking the time to view it.
That's John in the picture.

Before we entered Bryce Canyon, we went through Red Rock Canyon.  It was amazing how red the dirt and rock is.  And, we got to go through 2 rock arches.
